My first drawings

These are some of my first drawings in pencil.

Virgin of Tenderness

  Mother of God Elousa

“Virgin of Tenderness”

Egg tempera and gold leaf on sculpted board

Tenderness or showing Mercy is a variant of the most ancient and solemn Hogedetrea and expresses the intensity of the loving and affectionate relationship between the Mother and the Christ child.

Jesus the Good Shepherd

The Good Shepherd

11 x 14 inches

egg tempera

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. “He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.…” John 10:11

” The Passion “

Oil on canvas

18 w x 24 h

This is my version of a work done by artist Giovanni Francesco Barbieri ( known also as Guernico) in 1644 “Ecce Homo”. With this painting I tried to capture the intense suffering as seen in ” The Passion” to stimulate thought and reflection by those who admires it.

Amazon red macaw

“Amazon red macaw”

Oil on canvas

29 W x 23 H

This large red parrot live mainly in South and Central American forests. He has a long pointed tail, a huge hooked bill and eat fruits, nuts, seeds and buds. This exotic bird is one of my favorite. He reminds me the macaws I used to observe in my country Ecuador.

The bench

“The bench”

Oil on canvas

24 W x 36 H

A dual view of a park bench with a businessman sitting at day and a homeless man sleeping at night. For one man, the bench is simply a momentary place of rest, while for another, it is the only place in his world on which to sleep.
